There are many types of Remo connectors, but the manufacturing process is basically the same and can generally be divided into the following four stages: stamping (stamping), electroplating (electroplating), injection molding (molding), and assembly (assembly).
1. The manufacturing process of stamping (stamping) and connectors usually starts with stamping pins. Electronic connectors (pins) are stamped from thin metal strips through a large high-speed stamping machine. One end of the rolled metal strip is fed into the front end of the stamping machine. , the other end passes through the hydraulic workbench of the stamping machine, and winds around the winding wheel. The winding wheel pulls out the metal strip, and the winding wheel rolls up the stamped product.
2. Electroplating, Remo connector pins should be sent to the electroplating department after stamping. At this stage, the electrical contact surface of the connector will be plated with various metal coatings, similar to the problems in the stamping stage, such as pins Twisting, chipping or deformation will also occur during the process of feeding the stamped pins into the electroplating equipment. Such quality defects can be easily detected through the technology introduced in this article.
3. Injection molding, the plastic box seat of the Remo connector is made in the injection molding stage. The usual process is to inject molten plastic into the metal film and then cool it quickly. So-called leakage occurs when the molten plastic fails to completely fill the membrane; (short shot), this is a typical defect that needs to be detected during the injection molding stage. Other defects include filled or partially blocked socket holes (these socket holes must be kept clean and unobstructed so that they can be properly mated with the pins in the final assembly), a machine vision system for post-injection quality inspection is relatively simple and easy to implement because the box base and jack can be easily identified using backlighting Leakage from the plug.
4. The manufacturing stage of Lemo connector is the assembly of the finished product. There are two ways to insert the plating pins into the injection box seat: single or combined. Single insertion refers to inserting one pin at a time; during combined insertion, multiple pins are inserted into the box seat at the same time. , no matter which plugging method is used, manufacturers are required to check whether all pins are missing and correctly positioned during the assembly stage; another routine inspection task is related to the distance measurement between the connector mating surfaces.
As in the stamping stage, the assembly of Remo connectors also poses a challenge to automated inspection systems in terms of inspection speed. Although the beat of most assembly lines is one or two pieces per second, vision systems often need to provide a single link for each connection that passes through the camera. The detector completes many different inspection items, so inspection speed once again becomes an important system performance indicator.
The external dimensions of the assembled Remo connector are much larger than the allowable size tolerance of a single pin, which also brings another problem to the visual inspection system. For example, some connector sockets have hundreds of tubes that are more than one foot in size. The detection accuracy of each pin position must be within a few thousandths of an inch. Obviously, the detection of a one-foot connector cannot be completed in one image. The visual inspection system can only detect a limited area of a small field of view at a time. Quantity pin quality.
